B. Sally Gap's Showhunter Style

Sally Gap is a Welsh cob X tb - she is only just 7 yo, and is by Mill Creek Valiant out of Tb mare Star who was by Indian Ore out of a Blazing Keel mare.

In January 2011 at the World Cup Festival at Woodhill Sands I was able to sit at a fabulous vantage point and observe her doing a training round ridden by our son, 14yo Conor West.

A lesson from Owen Jones of Nebo Stud.

In February 2011, we were treated to a great lesson in running out our 5 yo Welsh cob stallion Beau. It was great to learn tips and methods for getting the best from our Welsh cobs from one of the world's top showmen. Owen has shown his family's Nebo Stud Welsh cobs since he was 12 yo. He has shown throughout UK and Europe and has won every prize there is in the UK Welsh cob world. He has also judged at the Royal Welsh and many other shows in Austrailia, NZ and Europe.

New Photos of Vinnie

This fabulous pure bred Welsh cob colt at 15 months old Ballytruckle Invincible has the temperament of a doll, easy to handle, very calm and biddable, he will be an asset to any breeding program looking to breed sensible jumping ponies.

Buddy Bunn wins UK Jumping Title 2004

William Funnell overcame a painful groin injury to win 2004 Alberta Canada Salver on Douglas Bunn's homebred Buddy Bunn on the opening day of the British Jumping Derby meeting at Hickstead. The problem did not, however, prompt him to play for safety in this contest which was judged on time in the opening round.

Omaha beach fun

Between the Xmas and New Year break we went for a few days to stay with an old school chum Jenny Marcroft and her family at Warkworth. We were able to graze at Jenny's home so took 4 horses and rode at a variety of locations.

Vale Mill Creek Valiant 1984 - 2010

That sad fateful afternoon in May 2010 we heard a commotion from Valiant's paddock. We had recently put Tb mare Redeemable back in with him for company as he had been fretting by himself and had become very thin.

Ponies galore for Niamh

Niamh usually can be found at the stables looking after one of the many ponies she rides.

Her main ride is Serenity Sam, 12-2hh a registered 25% Welsh Partbred by Greenlee Crusader out of an unregistered part welsh mare called Sam I am. She is 7yo and is grey. She is usually to be found at the back of any family ride where she very calmly ambles along. She is happy for everyone else to lead the way. She has a beautiful way of pointing her toes and we like her soft temperament. Currently Niamh is working on perfecting Serenity's jumping and canter.

Beaus first ride

Cwmkaren Beaufort Express - our resident 4 yo Welsh cob stallion carried a rider for the first time yesterday. I suddenly realised that he was about to turn 5 yo and we still havent ridden him- we are always so busy with the other horses, so I said to my son we will focus a bit on Beau this school holidays, so he got some handling and lunging when we could fit it in. In fact he was lunged 3 times.

Welsh cob X at National Equestrian Centre- Taupo

Rocky aka "Portmeirion" is by Mill Creek Valiant out of Sabrina ( a black pony mare) as a 4 yo ridden by 12 yo Katherine.

Janet wrote, "This was Rocket’s first cross country schooling and what a STAR! We went with no expectations except to give him some new experiences and came away having had a fabulously successful time.

The first photo of Katherine riding him bareback was the first afternoon we arrived – he took the new environment in his stride.

Stud tour huge success with 48 delegates on wet and cold June day 2010

In June 2010 48 delegates from the NZ Welsh Pony and Cob Society and NZ Carriage Driving Society visited Ballytruckle to view our Welsh cobs and Welsh cob X Tb partbreds. Along with the many owners, breeders, helpers and numerous children there were over 60 people braving the sleet like showery weather to view our stud.
