Ballytruckle Irving is a bay yearling gelding. Born Sept 07. He is by Mill Creek Valiant out of I Like Her a 16.1 hh tb mare by Deputy Governor (USA). Progeny of Deputy Governor are sought after by eventors. I Like Her has produced 7 Tb foals, one is racing at present, Dallmay. All her other progeny have either won or been placed when raced.
Irving is a huge colt foal, he should mature at 16hh. He is bay with 3 whites and a star, a gorgeous sloping shoulder, matched by a very nice hindquarter. He has a wonderful cheeky outlook and great movement.
2002 Champion Partbred at North Island Welsh Pony and Cob Show under Sally Brunton of Aranui Stud.
2003 Champion Youngstock Sporthorse Clevedon A&P Show under US judge Wayne Hipsley.
Ballytruckle Shilelagh, 50% Welsh cob x Tb has won Champion Ridden Cob at the prestigious Grand National Horse and Pony Show 2008. Beautifully ridden by Emma Hough,, owned by Gail Hough of Parnassus. Congratulations on your fabulous success.
In early December 2007 at the Auckland Manukau Dressage Group Festival of Dressage the consistent combination of welsh cob x tb B. Shamrock and rider Samantha Winn accumulated 9 points to win Reserve Champion for Level One.
During the two days of competition they rode in four tests. They improved with each test going from 6th place (on grass) for test 1.1, 4th (on Cushionride) for test 1.3, 2nd for test 1.4 and yet another first in test 1.6. Shammy revelled in the atmosphere and I noticed she enjoyed moving to the music being played in the Novice Musical Freestyle.
Ballytruckle Shilelagh 50% Welsh Cob X 50% Tb wins two championships at 2007 Royal Canterbury Show under International and National judges. She won the In Hand Champion Partbred Welsh then next day she won the Champion Ridden Novice Cob.
Standing at 154cm she is a lovely example of the Welsh Cob X Tb being out of an Indian Ore mare by Mill Creek Valiant. She is proudly owned by Gail Hough whose daughter Emma rides her in shows. To win an In-Hand Championship and a Ridden Championship at a show of this calibre is a great achievement. Well done.
Shelly's first foray into the Park Hack ring resulted in her and rider Emma Hough winning the Championship at Waimate A&P Show. She went on to be in contention for Supreme of Show. As the judge couldn't decide between the two remaining horses - Shelly being one of them- they worked out the Supreme of Show on a count back. As Emma had also competed another horse at the Show her number of classes she had competed in werent as many as the other competitor so Shelly didnt make Supreme. Nevertheless the Houghs are very pleased with Shelly who is going from strength to strength.
