Ballytruckle Welsh cob x Tbs win top prizes for Showhunter, Showjumping, Tip and Out and Highest Points for a Member at TVARC!!

Thames Valley Adult Riding Club 3 day Series was a huge success for the Ballytruckle Stud. In such a varied competition the versatility of the Welsh cob was evident in all three phases.

Day One was the Dressage phase, 12 yo novice rider Conor on Ballytruckle Shamrock 147cm (6yo Welsh cob X tb mare) gained 7pts on this day but we are unsure of his placings as we had to leave before the prize giving. Ballytruckle Sally Gap full sister to Shamrock, is a 154cm 5yo Welsh cob X tb mare -she also gained a few points but was being very green. What was surprising was that Conor hadn't done a dressage test for years and he had only started to ride Shamrock the week before the competition.

Day Two was the Showhunter phase- the course was very friendly, the jumps were inviting and well laid out in a novice course. Unbelievably for us Conor and Shamrock won the High Points Showhunter for the two Novice rings winning a lovely large sash. They were placed, 6th, 3rd, 3rd and 2nd so evidently warming up and improving as the jumps got larger. We were thrilled as there is no better feeling of contentment than seeing your own children riding and having fun on a horse you have bred and trained. Sophie and Sally weren't far behind them in 7 th place for the Showhunter day.

Ballytruckle Shamrock (Welsh Cob X tb -Mill Creek Valiant X Star(Indian Ore)) 6 yo chestnut pony mare ridden by 12 yo Conor West, and Ballytruckle Sally Gap (Welsh Cob X tb -Mill Creek Valiant X Star(Indian Ore)) 5 yo bay hack mare ridden by Sophie Arnoux.

Day Three was the Show jumping phase, the club had put up an inviting course of showjumps with the third fence of shark teeth boards trying the concentration of several horses including Shamrock.
Sophie and Sally won the Showjumping High Points for the Novice Ring winning a lovely sash. We are so thrilled as Sophie only rides Sally once a week and even then the weather can stop riding so all up a fabulous result. Then they won the Highest Points for a TVARC member over the 3 days of competition getting yet another huge sash and a bridle!! This series was Sally's 5th, 6th and 7th competitive outing involving jumping. My husband Steve has ridden her in competitive Endurance for an accumulated distance of 300km. Sally is improving rapidly with each competition she goes to under Sophie's expert guidance- Well done!! Sally and Sophie were second overall in the series.! An impressive result for a young horse without a lot of exposure or training in these disciplines.
Conor riding Ballytruckle Shamrock (6yo Welsh cob X tb mare) won the Tip and Out - he was presented a lovely sash, a halter and a drench as well. This exciting combination also came second in the 70cm SJ round, so after a great day of winning prizes and some cash he is one happy fellow. Conor and Shamrock finished fourth in the Three days of competition for the novice ring.

We are thrilled that TV ARC run such an excellent competition with the three phases and are looking forward to the next one.
