A lesson from Owen Jones of Nebo Stud.

In February 2011, we were treated to a great lesson in running out our 5 yo Welsh cob stallion Beau. It was great to learn tips and methods for getting the best from our Welsh cobs from one of the world's top showmen. Owen has shown his family's Nebo Stud Welsh cobs since he was 12 yo. He has shown throughout UK and Europe and has won every prize there is in the UK Welsh cob world. He has also judged at the Royal Welsh and many other shows in Austrailia, NZ and Europe.

Owen lead out Beau and taught him how to lengthen and lighten at full pelt- the change in Beau was noticeable. He looked amazing. Beau was working really hard and looked glorious being run out by a professional!! I was so enjoying the spectacle I forgot to get photos. You can see the hock action Owen was able to get out of Beau in this only photo.

Then Steve had a turn at running him out under Owen's tuition and after two laps of the paddock they both were blowing pretty hard. Steve learnt invaluable tips and is much more confident that he can show the stallion to his full potential.

Conor also ran out Beau and got a good tune from him.

Owen took 10 yo Welsh cob mare B. Alexander Rose for a couple of laps- she really stepped out as well but she isn't as sprightly as Beau, perhaps due to Beaus foal she is carrying. The camera lost power so we didnt get any photos of that.
